A pilot programme to accelerate the development of early career software developers and equip them with the skills to move into more experienced roles.

The digital skills gap in Scotland is widening, creating a significant challenge for the economy and all stages of the talent pipeline.

The lack of experienced developers is now a major concern for many technology businesses. Our pilot will explore how recent graduates, working as software developers, can be up skilled and moved into more experienced roles more quickly.

The programme will focus on developing both the participants’ soft skills of communication, teamwork, critical thinking and managing self, as well as their technical skills. Starting in January 2020, the programme will be covered in six, 3-hour workshops run 2-3 weeks apart. The sessions will be delivered by a variety of expert coaches and draw to a close at the end of April.

  • Aspects of Software Development
  • Teamwork
  • Critical Thinking
  • Coding in a Team Environment
  • Managing Self

The coaching programme is a pilot, funded by Skills Development Scotland, and as such places on it will be free. However, following the pilot, should we decide to extend the programme more widely, then a commercial charge will be applied.
